Wide Geomembrane Delivery Review: Roll Weight, Lifting, Access and Deployment

Fewer field seams are only one objective. Confirm transport, unloading, lifting and deployment capacity before approving a wider roll.

A wider geomembrane can reduce field welding, but it may increase construction risk if the roll exceeds lifting capacity, access is restricted or the deployment team lacks suitable equipment.

01

Calculate the handling unit

Confirm finished roll mass, diameter, core arrangement and lifting points—not only sheet width and area. Include packaging and special folded panels.

02

Audit the logistics route

Check container door clearance, unloading equipment, laydown area, access road limits and travel from storage to the installation zone.

03

Approve the deployment method

Match panel or roll layout to wind control, crew size, spreader bars and welding sequence. A trial deployment is appropriate where site constraints are unusual.

  • Provide maximum crane or excavator capacity

  • Confirm container type and unloading method

  • Approve roll schedule and identification

  • Coordinate roll dimensions with the installer
