From Approved Sample to Bulk Supply: Controlling Geosynthetic Consistency

A sample represents defined characteristics—not an open-ended promise. Combine a retained sample, written specification and batch testing to control bulk variation.

Visual similarity does not prove that bulk geosynthetics meet project requirements. Written values and agreed test methods remain the primary acceptance basis; a sealed sample supports checks of appearance, structure and labelling.

01

Define what the sample approves

Record the sample ID, date, product grade and the characteristics being approved. Do not let an untested hand sample override the project specification.

02

Control production changes

Require notification when resin source, formulation, construction or key process settings change in a way that may affect declared performance.

03

Inspect bulk supply by lot

Use representative lot sampling and keep roll IDs linked to test results. Compare dimensions, physical properties and identification against the approved technical schedule.

Project action list

What the procurement or project team should do next

  • Sign and date retained reference samples

  • Attach the final technical schedule to the order

  • Define lot size and sampling frequency

  • Agree the process for deviations before production
