What Geomembrane Thickness Is Suitable for Landfills, Fish Ponds, Reservoirs and Biogas Ponds?

The initial survey area is given according to the medium, the base layer, the soil cover and the design life and the specifications for when the upgrades must be made.

Key parameters and quick judgement tables

The sceneAsking about the pre-election districtsSupporting focus
Small low-risk fish ponds/landscape pondsThe first is the 0.75 mm.Precision cleaning base, protective layer; 0.5 mm not within GM13 range
Reservoir/biogas pondThe first is the 1.5 mm.The pipeline nodes, the gas pipeline
Water control poolThe first is the 1.5 mm.Medium compatibility, resistance to float
Filling sites/tail mines1.5 mm and aboveThe first is the combination of the CQA and the CQA.

This is a preferred scope for procurement, not a design threshold that is common to all regions; regulations, approval drawings and contract standards are given priority.

Project judgments and procurement conclusions

The thickness is not determined by the project name, but by the risk of penetrating, liquid water heads, chemical media, exposure time and design life. Small, low-risk small fish ponds can be compared from 0.5 mm to 0.75 mm when finely level and set up the protection layer; reservoirs and ordinary sewage pools are often compared from 1.0 mm; main life-saving tubing layers are usually 1.5 mm and above, and must ultimately comply with the approved design. When HDPE geomembrane is required to be purchased or accepted under GRI-GM13, its applicable thickness ranges from 0.75 mm to 0.5 mm products cannot be declared to be GM13 compliant.

Acceptance points and common risks

  • Only the official thicknessThe minimum thickness of the unit should be agreed with the sampling method.
  • The first is the use of a thick base. The sharp stone and uneven precipitation can still pierce the thick membrane.
  • Ignore the window sealsThe site of the welding error for ultra-thin materials is smaller and construction capacity needs to be evaluated simultaneously.

Steps to landing

  • Clear media

Submitting pH, temperature, pollutants and long-term exposure.

  • Check the baseline

Explain the soil, rock, sediment and protection layers.

  • Calculating water head

The maximum liquidity, slope and run cycle.

  • Formation of the specification

Write down the thickness gap, raw materials, surface, test standards and batch documents.
